What the task looks like
Each damaged word shows its first letters and a blank for the rest. Spelling must be correct. Grammar decides the ending before meaning does: is it a noun or a verb, singular or plural, past or present?
Bees play an import___ role in farming. Many cro___ depend on them for polli___, and a decl___ in bee numbers can redu___ harvests.
Answer

"An ___ role" needs an adjective. "Many ___" needs a plural noun. "For ___" needs a noun. "Can ___" needs a base verb.
A four-step method
- 01Read the whole paragraph once before typing anything.
- 02For each gap, decide the word class from the words around it.
- 03Use the start of the word plus the topic to guess the word.
- 04Check the ending: plural -s, past -ed, adjective -al or -ive, noun -tion.
